Does anyone know Bethany’s teaching or stance on “speaking in tongues”? I’ve Bern informed it’s a requirement for Cell Leaders? Any material helps!

hello I’ve just recently begun to follow your blog and as a former member of Bethany I can agree with much of what you write.
I left some years ago and was never a participant of the Cell program so Im not sure about the requirements. But knowing wha tI do Know I wouldnt be surprised if it isn’t a requirement

It’s not really a requirement. And if it is, I see nothing wrong with that. They aren’t forced to speak in tongues everyday or every meeting or anything. It’s just that people know that you CAN speak in tongues. That’s it, a show of your faith.

I agree it’s “a show”. They definitely want to be seen as righteous in public.
However, you seem to be on the outside looking in. Is a requirement or isn’t it? They’re arent’ forced to everyday?! What about every other day? What about once a week? How can you force a gift of The Holy Spirit to manifest? There are many, why so much focus on the easiest to counterfeit?

Someone needs to tell the Cell_Leaders. I know of two who are holding Cell_meetings in their homes. They get together to pray in tongues. Sounds like chaos to me.
They hold meetings and talk about life as Christians. You make you sound like a cult. They don’t even speak in tongues at the meeting.
They are a cult. They constantly endorse false prophets. The most recent Damon(from biblical greek for DEMON) mutitlates Acts 12 to fit his fake “Signs and Wonders” campaign that Bethany has been promoting forever. Every year The Holy Spirit claims “Signs And Wonders Like Never Before”. Yet, now they claim 2011 was a year of “Transitions” based on Acts 12. See my latest post on that Damon.
Brian, it matters not what new name they come up with, i.e., “Meeting”. These gatherings are still under the same management. And yes, before the “meetings” start and conclude they do pray which of course evokes them to “speak in tongues”. I have an advocate that attends these “meetings” whom I’m still good friends with. Changing the name to “meeting” doesn’t change a thing. Same people, same church, same managment, same protocol.
First of I have no idea who this ‘Damon’ person is. I have never heard of anyone even begin to talk about signs and wonders. We only really speak in tongues to ourselves! We don’t have big conferences just to speak in tongues. THAT’S a cult. And the B-groups? I go to one every week. I can personnally tell you that they don’t speak in tongues. No one tells then to speak in tongues. Ever.

It’s a shame that I have to inform you of the church you claim to defend. However, on Jan.18, 2012 Bethany gave stage to a man they call “Prophet Damon Thompson”.
